On November 19, 2016, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) released a revised version of the Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. With the increasing cost of Form I-9 violations for employers, I-9 compliance remains a critical part of the hiring process. Thanks to a new rule announced by the Department of Justice in June 2016, the fine amounts for I-9 violations have almost doubled.
